Aurora Aksnes' earliest memory of music was discovering a grand piano in the attic. The piano was fascinating to her the possibilities it offered. Jan Oystein Aksnes' parents May Britt Aksnes advised her to make music as a means of the sake of personal development, and not to earn money or to pursue an interest. She began to write writing her own songs. She has cited renowned songwriters Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan in her influences, along with an appreciation for the style of Bjork. Her mother encouraged her to perform her music in front of the public, but not in order to be famous, but to let others know that they matter and the good they do to make a difference in the world. When she began playing the piano, she was six years old and began writing music when she was nine. Her family didn't be aware until fourteen. Aurora isn't something she imagined as a child. She claims that she enjoys creating music. Music is her most preferred way of feeling anything.
